We are the chapter of IVSA Hanover in the north of Germany. Our university, Stiftung Tierärztliche Hochschule Hannover, was founded in 1778 and is the oldest faculty of veterinary medicine in Germany. More than 250 students per year are admitted. In total, there are six clinics and 19 institutes with different research programs, most of them accepting international students for internships and practices.
With just a bit more than 500 thousand inhabitants, Hanover is the perfect mix between a large metropolitan, such as Berlin, and a smaller, familiar town. Sporting a lot of different spots of nature, such as two rivers, one big and several small lakes, Hanover can be proud to call itself one of Germany’s greenest cities. Numerous cultural events take place in Hanover, providing many opportunities to escape from boredom. The city center features several places for sightseeing, as well as shopping and recreation. In addition, the people of Hanover are always excited to get to know new people from all over the world.
We arrange at least two exchanges per year, organize several activities including panel discussions, sales of hot wine or sangria, waffles and popcorn, as well informative evenings regarding studying abroad, and many things more. To embrace mental health we just introduced the weekly “Monday Meditation” at 7am.
Our main goal is to be present for our students and help spreading the important message of the IVSA community as far as possible.
The following clinics are available for practices:
- Clinic for Small Animals
- Clinic for Small Mammals, Reptiles and Birds
- Clinic for Cattle
- Clinic for Horses
- Clinic for Small Ruminants and Pigs
- Clinic for Poultry
